Storyline
As a group of friends discover plans for a time machine, they build it and use it to fix their problems and personal gain. But as the future falls apart with disasters, and each of them disappear little by little, they must travel back to the past to make sure they never invent the machine or face the destruction of humanity.
Reviews
The general consensus on this film is that it's an OK film that is acceptable entry into the time travel genre. To be honest, I found it to be a bit more than that. Starting with the found footage way of cinematography. This is perhaps the best use I have seen of it yet. It's use of found footage makes sense for the most part. Without spoiling anything, let's just say that these teenagers document everything. That makes for a great found footage movie, but one that lacks sense. It would make sense if they just documented their experiments. However, in order to become a better film, it needed more time with the characters. Keeping that in mind the characters seemed as though they recorded everything. An audience member can find this understandable, however at certain moments it locks the audience out a tad. Another thing that this film struggled with a tad, is that the supporting characters really feel bland. They have little development, but that doesn't stop the film from excelling. The lead is strong and comes to be a character you care about by the end of the film. So, what the film lacks in character support, it gains in the strength of the main character. The time travel itself in this movie is great. It ties in the butterfly effect wonderfully and every time they go back you feel like that what they're doing is what a teenager would do given a time traveling device. Now, it does have some shortcomings, but those are really nitpicks. The movie discards the entire logic of the butterfly effect sometimes for just the basic premise of it, which is OK given the type of film it is. Overall, this film was really good. It had very nice pacing(which I didn't go into), an overall nice use of found footage, fair enough character development and a good use of time travel. High schoolers will love this film as it portrays the scene perfectly.
